#VellaSays – Bye Bye Dark Circles! Time to move on!
Everyone wants to rid dark circles!! Although it can be hereditary and outside influences can affect the darkness under your eyes there are things YOU can do to help.
Moisture is always needed by your skin, especially under your eyes. Ummm, NO you should not use your face/body lotion around your eye area please and thank you!! The skin around your eyes are thinner than the rest of your face and require delicate care and this ladies and gentlemen is why “EYE” cream was invented. Here are a few of my #vellaapproved favourites:
BOBBI BROWN EXTRA Eye Repair Cream
RODAN & FIELDS REDEFINE MULTI-FUNCTION EYE CREAM
KIEHLS CREAMY EYE TREATMENT with AVOCADO
More often than not I hear people share that even with concealer there is an ashiness under their eyes when trying to hide darkness. Well, no you’re not seeing things in fact, you are right on point!! This is because you are not colour correcting the darkness first BEFORE adding your skin tone concealer as a second step.
Now the key is finding the right recipe for you!
There are several correctors available out there however I stick to about 3 different colours since they get the job done right:
SALMON BASED
PEACHY ORANGE BASED
Finding your corrector colour will be based off of your actual skin tone. Typically people who have pale to medium skin will generally use a salmon based corrector. The more medium to dark skin tones would gravitate towards the peachy orange tone corrector. And the Mellow Yellow corrector can be used all around however, the undertone of your own skin also plays a BIG part in your perfect recipe. Here’s some information on the purpose of these colour correctors:
Yellow-tone correctors, neutralize bluish undereye circles. Use one with a peachy base, for brown or yellowish circles.
My #vellaapproved all-time favourite corrector/concealer combo is by no other than the fab BOBBI BROWN
This will cancel out the darkness under your eyes and instead work to brighten this area which will bring your beautiful eyes forward… Where they belong :)
Now don’t forget to put your matched skin concealer on top of your corrector for the most natural finish!
Finally, you HAVE to set your corrector/concealer with a light powder, whether translucent or matching of your skin tone – this prevents your recurring fear of your concealer creasing.
